Meet the Team

Mrs Lovelock

Head of History, RSE, PSE

I wasn’t always a teacher!  I set out in life in a drawing office, but was soon bored of a '9 to 5' lifestyle.  After a few year running my own business with a staff of 60+, I gave it all up to become a teacher of history and use my real passion – and that has been me ever since!  I’m here as Head of Department because I want to give our youngsters more confidence to take up more room in the world and, possibly, to change it for the better.  When I relax I like to spend time with my family, and friends.  I love food and travel, and those furry French Bulldogs you see in the photo with the Dalek!

Mrs Tulip

Teacher of History

I started my teaching career at Fernhill School after being an LSA here for 8 years.  I decided to put my love of history into practise to enable all children to experience the vast diversity of culture and world events that the subject covers.  In my spare time (!), I enjoy “armchair” sport, particularly football, meeting friends and family for a coffee and a chat, visiting the theatre/concerts and of course anything to do with history!

Mrs Cameron

Teacher of History

Assistant Headteacher

I have always been a teacher and indeed am currently in my 40th year of teaching! Although I have taught other subjects my real passion lies with the teaching of history. As a little girl I loved reading biographies of historical characters and developed an obsession for the Tudors. I love visiting famous landmarks and buildings both at home and abroad and hope that in my lessons, students are inspired to follow my passion for the subject.

Mr Turner

Teacher of History

After completing my Masters in History in 2020, I started training to be a teacher here at Fernhill.  I am now qualified and I am very happy to be here continuing my teaching career.  I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I left school because I wanted to be able to make a difference, the same way my teachers had made a difference to me.  I believe everyone deserves to have the opportunity to become the best version of themselves and I want to help inspire others to do this.  I love history because it helps us to better understand the society we live in today and the daily interactions we have with each other.  After all, human history is formed through the meetings and interactions with one and other, both on a small and large scale.  In my spare time I like to watch football, especially my Newcastle team, and play and watch cricket.  I also like to watch films and aim to watch every film in the IMDB top 250 list. Lastly, I always try and find time to learn more about history!
