Options Evening Tuesday 28th February

The Options process begins in February for Year 9. There will be discussions about the most suitable courses between students, parents and teaching staff. There are times when teaching staff will guide students towards courses where there is the best chance of success at the end of Year 11.  It must also be remembered that courses will only run if there are enough students to make a viable group.

The subject Options Evening will take place between 5.00 pm and 7.00 pm on Tuesday 28th February. This will involve a talk to parents about the options process by Senior Leaders and Heads of the Core departments followed by an opportunity to visit the Option subject areas to find out more about the courses on offer. Post-16 providers will be available to talk to in the library. If you were unable to attend please see the link to the presentation above and also the Options booklet.

Students will meet with a Senior Leader during the week beginning Monday 13th March for an initial discussion about their options.

Once these meetings have taken place, the process begins to allocate students to courses. It may well be that some subjects will not run because there are too few students who have chosen a subject. Equally, it may not be possible to get every student’s first preference and in these cases their reserve subjects will be allocated. For this reason it is very important that careful consideration is given to reserve subjects. All students will get a letter confirming the final allocation of subjects during the second half of the Summer Term.
