Meet the Team

Mrs Crowe

Head of Performing Arts

Acting SENCO

I am actually an ex Fernhill student myself, although this seems a long time ago now!  I used to love school, especially Music, Art and Maths and have always been passionate about learning new things and challenging myself.  During my Music Degree I decided that I wanted to be involved with education as a career and after teaching Music, PSHE and Law I decided to focus my efforts on Music.

When I am not running around after my two little boys, I enjoy seeing family and friends, running, taking an occasional spinning class and playing the flute in a local band.  I have set myself the challenge to get better at the ukulele and learning to play the cello is on the ‘one day list’.

Mr Heard

Senior Assistant Headteacher

I was offered the Head of Music post at Fernhill in 1994.  26 years later, I am still here as Mr Kingswood’s Deputy and am as passionate about my job today as when I began.  I absolutely love working with the Fernhill community so that I can make a difference.  Having taught so many current parents, it is a pleasure to see their children flourish at school.

Away from school, spending time with my family is crucial.  I enjoy travelling to a variety of countries around the world and, as the students know, I am a Norwich City fanatic!

Mr Lankshear

Music Teacher

Although starting out as a classical pianist and trumpeter, I discovered the joys of playing in rock, jazz and blues bands as a teenager - an experience I recommend to any budding musicians.  After completing a degree in Music Technology, I worked as a live show producer before the draw of teaching brought me to Fernhill School where I completed my teacher training.  I delight in being introduced to new music by students (and providing honest reviews!), and am keen to keep building a strong musical community at the school.

When away from school, I can be found exploring the glorious Surrey and Hampshire countryside with my family.

Miss Hayely Wright

Teacher of Drama

“In the Theatre of Life, the Show Must Go On!” Avijeet Das

I have been involved in the performing arts sector my whole life, from about the age of 3! I started my training at a vocational stage school, where I was lucky enough to be involved in some TV and film work which was a lot of fun.

I then turned my hand to managing a theatre school and teaching both dance and drama, as well as doing some professional choreography on the side!  I then decided as a mature student to go and get a first class degree and PGCE in the two subjects I love and have never looked back.

Obviously visiting the theatre is one of my favourite hobbies, I guess it would have to be!

I also enjoy, cycling, going to the gym, long walks and spending quality time with my daughter, friends and family.
